At Playback University, we are committed to creating space for free expression in live music without sacrificing quality or structure. We will continue to bridge the gap between techs and musicians and find innovative ways to evolve this industry even further, while educating and preparing a new generation of engineers for a budding career path.
What is a Playback Engineer?

A Playback Engineer is the person responsible for collecting, organizing, recording, editing, and operating, or "playing back", the pre-recorded elements of a live performance. Playback Engineers come from many different backgrounds including musicians, music producers, and studio engineers. A good Playback Engineer is able to bridge the gap between the musicians on stage and the engineers and techs behind the stage, contributing to a seamless flow in a live show production.
