Two Distinct approaches shaped around how students create
Creative Foundations introduces students to music production in a supportive, confidence-building way. Students learn how to create music, explore ideas, and finish projects without pressure or technical overload.
Creative Development is for students who are ready to move beyond beginner experimentation and start creating music with purpose. Students learn how to shape sounds, structure complete songs, collaborate effectively, and make creative decisions with intention.
Creative Identity is a capstone-level course focused on artistic identity and original creation. Students learn advanced sound design and personalized workflows, to produce confident, original work that reflects who they are as artists.
Audio Essentials introduces students to how sound works inside a music production environment.
Students learn the fundamentals of audio, recording, and basic mixing so they can work confidently without breaking sessions or feeling overwhelmed by technical details.
Best for: students building a strong technical foundation and learning to work safely and clearly in a DAW.
Technical Development is designed for students who are ready to move beyond basic understanding and begin working with intention and reliability.
Students develop stronger control over routing, effects, and mixing techniques, learning how to create consistent results across multiple projects.
Best for: students who want their mixes to sound more polished, controlled, and repeatable.
Technical Precision focuses on professional-level precision, judgment, and workflow. Students refine advanced mixing techniques, session organization, and listening strategies while learning how to make confident technical decisions in complex production environments.
Best for: advanced students preparing for professional-level work or serious creative projects.

Creative Expression | Technical Expertise
Creativity and Technical precision are closely related. They draw from different ways of thinking, yet work together to bring ideas to life.
Young minds need room to develop each skill on its own. Creativity is open and expressive. Technique is focused and deliberate. Some students lean into both. Others begin with just one.
Our program is crafted with this in mind. Students progress through three thoughtfully designed levels, reinforcing skills over time while building a strong, flexible foundation for continued growth.

Thoughtfully Designed
All courses at 87 Sound Academy follow the same carefully designed learning pathways. The difference is simply how students move through the material.
Students work through prerecorded lessons on their own schedule, revisiting material as needed and progressing at their own pace.

Are designed for students ages 12–19

Live classes include access to the same prerecorded lessons, plus online, weekly live classes with an expert instructor.
We are glad to serve the homeschool community. Many families use our program as a flexible creative arts and technology enrichment, designed to complement existing homeschool schedules while offering real-world music production skills.
